According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider Edge will be making his return to WWE during the SmackDown 1000 spectacular. Edge was a major staple of the SmackDown brand during the initial brand split in 2002. He was made a staple of their youth movement along with the likes of Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. Following a brief run on Raw, Edge returned to SmackDown in 2007 where he became the brand’s top heel and arguably had the run of his career doing battle with the Undertaker, who will also be appearing at this spectacular gathering. Edge retired in 2011 due to severe injury and nerve damage, SmackDown 1000 takes place on October 23, from Washington D.C. on USA Network.
