Stars In Progress: Brock Lesnar, Injuries, Knockouts & More

As the holidays wrap up and we begin the new year, my last job for 2011 is looking at what stars took a step up or step down in pro wrestling this past week. Tweet me your predictions for 2012 @RealityofChris.

Brock Lesnar

One Real Step Down, One Fake Step Up

Brock Lesnar lost "it" as a fighter several fights ago. His confidence had been shot and his health issues certainly didn't help matters. By the end, he was scared to get hit and that's the last emotion you want to feel in the middle of the octagon.

UFC is going to miss Brock Lesnar more than Brock misses it. He was a bona fide star that brought more mainstream attention, new fans, and excitement to that sport than anyone else to date. Even UFC purists will be sad to see him go.

On the other side of the coin, UFC's loss is wrestling fans' gain. Not right away, but soon enough. I tend to agree with Jim Ross though – I don't see Brock coming back to wrestling full-time. It's possible, but I doubt it.

I am curious to see how hard Vince pursues Brock this time. At one point, he seemed to be trying desperately (the whole Undertaker saga) to convince Lesnar (and Dana) that money could be made in pro wrestling. Brock hadn't lost so many fights then.

Dana White may finally be willing to let Brock go back to wrestling. Now it's just a matter of whether or not Vince still wants him. I'm going to say "Absolutely, yes!"
