WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman recently reflected on one of Brock Lesnar’s most controversial accomplishments and admitted that he enjoys the fact that wrestling fans are still upset about it years later.
At WWE Clash in Italy, Brock Lesnar defeated Oba Femi in a highly anticipated rematch. The victory tied their series at one win each. Following the match, Paul Heyman praised both competitors and explained why the win was such a significant moment in Lesnar’s legendary career.
Paul Heyman says Brock Lesnar ending The Undertaker’s streak still angers fans
Speaking on the WWE Clash in Italy post-show, Heyman gave credit to Oba Femi for making Lesnar’s victory feel important despite Lesnar’s long history of success. He said, “I wanted to give credit where credit’s due.”
“And the credit that I want to give is to Oba Femi, because it’s not that big of a deal that Brock Lesnar won a match. Brock Lesnar has been winning matches for 24 years, and before that, he was winning matches in the NCAA, and before that, he was winning matches in high school, and before that, he was in whatever Pee Wee League, and he conquered everybody in his path. Brock Lesnar has won so many matches, it might as well be predetermined.”
Heyman then compared the victory to some of the biggest wins of Lesnar’s career, including victories over The Rock, Randy Couture, and John Cena. He eventually brought up Lesnar ending The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak, which immediately drew boos from the crowd.
“I love how that’s still pissing people off and it doesn’t piss anybody off more than it pisses off The Undertaker. Who conquered The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania? And then became the one behind the one, the 21 and 1, Brock Lesnar.”
He then compared Lesnar’s victory over Oba Femi to his past accomplishments. “And who took Oba Femi, the most impressive newcomer in the history of WWE? Who took Oba Femi into retirement? Beat Oba Femi in the middle of the ring, one, two, three. Who snapped that streak? Who took over the town? Who exposed the ruler to be conquerable? Ladies and gentlemen, your winner. As always, Brock Lesnar.”
