Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown “IC Title Chaos, Wyatt Family Complacent”

The New Day Retains

wwe smackdownIn an excellent tag team match to kick off a live episode of Smackdown, The Lucha Dragons did battle with The New Day. Lucha hits a nice 450 and Kalisto transitions it into an armbar. Great technique and New Day finally gets the upper hand for a brief moment. More flying, including a Suicide Dive and then a springboard splash. It looks like the titles are going to change hands, but the numbers game gets in the way. Woods distracts Kalisto and then Big E uses the slight distraction and Sin Cara ends up taking the loss after a Big Ending.

Great action tonight from both teams. I felt that WWE may give Kalisto and Sin Cara the titles tonight, but I do see them gaining the championships in the early stages of 2016. There is going to be a time where The New Day will be used to get other teams over. Not right now, but sometime soon. The gimmick is too good to tinker with right now, but 2016 could be a big opportunity for new teams to gain championship gold. I just really like how you are almost guaranteed great matches when it involves these two teams and The Uso’s. It helps simplify storylines and focus on their talent in the ring together.

The Wyatt Family is Complacent

In 8 man tag team action, The Wyatt Family pair off against Kane, Ryback and The Dudley Boyz. Albeit the match was fun to watch, it also shows how WWE is very complacent with what they do with Bray and his family.

Let me ask this: Who do they target next? Seriously, we have seen them work with so many talents and have been involved in numerous 6 and 8 man tag team matches over the past few years. WrestleMania season always creates new opportunities for Bray Wyatt. First, it was John Cena. Second, it was The Undertaker. My biggest problem has always been that these guys have not had a signature win on a big stage.

The second problem is that they have not carried gold. When other columnists and personalities talk about Brock Lesnar and Bray Wyatt, I find it very intriguing. Of course, Bray would do magic with Heyman on the mic and this is unique for Brock in the fact that this gimmick is unlike anyone he has really faced. I just think that Brock Lesnar needs to win and be dominant, while Bray needs to continue to pile up wins until he wins gold. It is an interesting pairing, but if Bray loses then what?
