How WWE SummerSlam Should Have Ended – The Bullet Club Stands Tall!

After WWE Summerslam’s confusing, anti-climactic finish between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, Oli Davis pitches another ending to the night: Finn Balor turning heel and creating a new version of The Bullet Club to dominate Raw…

Somewhere near the beginning of the show, in about the tenth hour, former Bullet Club members AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were enjoying a brief reunion backstage, when someone else showed up: Finn Balor, the original leader of The Bullet Club faction in New Japan.

Styles went to do the ‘Too Sweet’ hand gesture to Balor, but Finn just turned and walked off. IfSummerslam played out the way I’m going to pitch it, then that wouldn’t just be a cool moment. It would be foreshadowing.

About nine hours later, Galanderson beat the New Day via DQ when Big E made his triumphant, ball-juice swigging return. This match was more to get John Stewart over than to make Gallows and Anderson appear credible, and because of the DQ, the tag team championships never changed hands. To set up my Summerslam big finish, Big E. shouldn’t have returned, so Galanderson could beat up John Stewart and then win the tag titles in decisive fashion. They get a lot of heat, and there’s a ready made feud for Big E.’s return.

Several days on, just after the six woman tag match, Finn Balor beat Seth Rollins to win the first everWWE Universal Championship inside-out man belt – cementing The Demon King as Raw’s top babyface for the foreseeable future. Problem is, beneath the incredible body paint, Balor isn’t that charismatic by himself. In a faction, though, he’s outstanding.

So instead of babyface Balor beating heel Rollins, the match has a double turn. Over their battle, Rollins slowly starts selling like a babyface. When he goes to the top rope, he amps up the crowd. They stop being heel and face, and they just become two warriors duking it out, trading blows to the roaring crowd.
