WWE Smackdown Results (8/19) – 20 Man Battle Royal, Who Is The #1 Contender?

Bill Pritchard

Teddy Long is in the ring and he welcomes the new World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton to the ring, and he shakes hands with Orton before handing over the mic. Orton says he knows they are used to starting out the show with Christian whining for one more match, but he is the champion and he beat Christian so bad that he cannot stand. First he respected Christian, but it turned into annoyance then hatred, and he is tired of the stipulations, and wants a new opponent. Teddy says he understands what he means, and he can tell him who he will face, and it will be the winner of a 20 man battle royal!

Cody Rhodes comes out with Ted DiBiase and they come to the ring and Cody mockingly says this is the Legacy reunion. He says they used to be treated as lesser people than Orton, but they are now on the same level since they are both champions. Cody says at least he didn't have to win by barbaric fashion and he isn't happy with just having one title, which is why he is entering the battle royal. Cody says Ted has a voice and he should use it, and Ted says they know Orton's strengths and weaknesses, and they didn't forget about the times Orton used them. Orton doesn't let him finish his sentence and drops him with a RKO and stares at Cody and dares him to do something about it.

Orton leaves then Cody checks on Ted and asks Teddy Long what that was all about. Cody screams at him and says he demands that Teddy does something about. Teddy mocks him and says he will make Orton stand in a corner and write 'I will not RKO Ted DiBiase" 100 times. He tells Cody he does demand something, and he tells Cody he will take Ted's place in a match tonight. Cody will put his Intercontinental Championship on the line, against the former champion Ezekiel Jackson, and it's next!
