Here are the results from the Smackdown house show at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo from Sunday, 3/11.
Match 1: Great Khali def. Jinder Mahal via Khali Bomb. Crowd was super over for Khali, almost half the stadium consisted of kids.
Match 2: Beth Phoenix and Natalya def. Alicia Fox and Tamina via Glam Slam in a tag match. Crowd cheered more for Beth/Natalya than the faces.
Match 3: Hunico and Camacho def. The Usos via Swanton Bomb from Hunico on one of the Usos. Afterwords, Cody Rhodes came out and delivered a Crossroads to an Uso.
Match 4: Sheamus def. Mark Henry via Brogue Kick in a Street Fight. Henry came out and actually received a majority of cheers, being the most recognizable star of the night so far. He grabbed the mic and demanded the announcer reintroduce him as an inductee into the International Sports Hall of Fame. He then called the fans idiots for cheering "a bad guy." Despite Daniel Bryan interference, Sheamus gets the win. Couple chair shots and kendo shots in the match.
Match 5: Justin Gabriel def. Drew McIntyre with a cool 360 Springboard off the ropes, not his usual finisher. Afterword, Cody Rhodes hits the ring again and drops Gabriel with a Crossroads. He grabs the mic and talks about beating Big Show at Wrestlemania, when Seth Rollins (Tyler Black) comes out. Rhodes has no idea who he is, and says the fans don't either. Rollins introduces himself, and says he's here to take an opportunity for himself and challenge Rhodes for the IC Belt. After initially declining, Rhodes accepts.
Match 6: Cody Rhodes def. Seth Rollins via Crossroads for the IC belt. Good match, Rollins got in a lot of near falls. After the match, the ref holds up the "X" and a trainer comes down, but Rhodes refuses help as he looks like he may have a slight limp. Rhodes gets back into the ring, picks up Rollins and pats him on the head, raising him hand. As the crowd cheers, another Crossroads! Big heat for this move.
Match 7: Daniel Brian def. Big Show and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan comes out to big heat, and grabs a kid's sign and tears it up in the ring. Big Show out next, and he comes out and gives the same kid his hat. Orton out next to the biggest pop of the night. He's standoffish while Show beats and chops on Bryan. Orton tries to steal the cover, Show pulls him off and they fight. Lots of one on one action with the third guy on the outside. Rhodes comes out for the third time and distracts Big Show, Orton drops him with an RKO. Bryan pulls Orton off and throws him into the post, and steals the pin on Big Show. As he escapes with the win, Sheamus comes out and throws him back in the ring, where he takes an RKO, and then recovers in time for a choke slam.
Overall, a pretty good live event. The stadium was about 3/4 capacity and into most of the matches. They announced the next event in our area to be a Smackdown taping in Grand Rapids in April.
