AJ Lee Heel Turn?

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the recent heel turn of Naomi was originally planned for AJ Lee. Apparently WWE was planning on turning AJ against Paige following their WrestleMania tag team match, which would have been the catalyst for pushing the 22-year-old as the top babyface of the Divas division.

They had talked about turning Naomi heel months ago, possibly against husband Jimmy Uso during the program with The Miz and Damien Mizdow, which ended abruptly and had no real conclusion.

It’s a very good time for Paige to win at Extreme Rules, given the current landscape. Naomi, Brie and Nikki Bella, Natalya, Lana – also known as the only Divas on the roster the fans care about – are all heels. Paige is now the one and only babyface worth mentioning, meaning she has a lot of potential challengers.
