CM Punk Remembers Acting Legend Christopher Lee, NXT Star Gets New Gimmick on This Week’s Show

CM Punk pays tribute to acting legend Sir Christopher Lee, who passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 93. 

NXT Star Gets New Gimmick

As seen on this week’s episode of WWE NXT, Bull Dempsey has been fitted with something of a new gimmick. During his match with Tyler Breeze, the two did a comedy spot that saw Breeze run in circles around the ring, and Dempsey trying and failing to catch him, running out of breath. They did the spot a number of times before “Prince Pretty” won the match with the Beauty Shot. 

Following the content, Dempsey was involved in a backstage segment, making excuses for his performance while eating a bag of Doritos. NXT general manager William Regal then told him to “get his act together” and took the chips, so Bull took a chocolate bar out of his trunks and started eating it. 

I’m struggling to find one single reason why this gimmick is a good idea. A few months ago (in the pre-Baron Corbin landscape) he was an unstoppable monster heel, so the change is not only insulting to fan’s attention spans, but it practically legitimizes anyone who has ever lost to him. Where is the upside? How does a character recover from being depicted as a fat, out-of-shape slob? I wonder if there’s an opening at the Law Offices of Park & Park.
