As noted, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler teased at a recent New York Comic Con that WWE Smackdown might be going live once it begins airing on USA Network in 2016.
While plans have yet to be set in stone, The Wrestling Observer is reporting there has been talk in WWE of having the first USA Network airing of WWE Smackdown be a live special, and there has also been talk of having Smackdown move to Tuesday nights and going live.
As it pertains to increased travel costs, Tuesday night makes the most financial sense for WWE if the company intends to air Smackdown live. Again, nothing has been set in stone yet, but WWE has been discussing major changes for the Smackdown brand once the show moves to USA in January.
