Wrestlemania 33’s Expected Economic Impact On Orlando, Elias Samson Returns On NXT (Video)

Wrestlemania 33

Following a report earlier today that noted Wrestlemania 32 generated $170 million in economic impact for the Dallas / Arlington area, the Orlando Sentinel posted an article talking about the impact Wrestlemania 33 will have on Orlando.

The article notes that Wrestlemania has grown a great deal since it was last hosted in Orlando, when Wrestlemania 24 brought an economic impact of $50 million. Now, with the addition of Smackdown Live to the Wrestlemania week of events, it is believed that Wrestlemania 33 totals could eclipse last year’s record numbers due to more fans staying longer in the area.

John Saboor, WWE’s executive vice president for special events, said:

“WrestleMania week continues to grow incrementally every year. The addition of ‘SmackDown Live’ on Tuesday at Amway Center, we believe, will cause even more of our fans to extend their stay in Orlando, creating layers of benefits for WWE and for Central Florida.”

It was noted that the amount of money spent was only including out-of-towners and does not reflect the money also spent by locals. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer was also quoted in the article and talked about the ‘Super Bowl’ level of entertainment that Wrestlemania brings to a host city, saying he hoped Orlando could get into a rotation and host Wrestlemania every 4-5 years.
