The following highlights are from this week’s WWE Off The Top Rope segment on ESPN with Jonathan Coachman, and Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth as the special guests.

Ambrose and Ellsworth join the show and Coach talks about Ellsworth’s immediate popularity, and Ellsworth says he thought his match with Braun Strowman was a one time thing, and never expected any of this. Ambrose says he doesn’t know how Ellsworth happened, but AJ Styles brought him into this and now Ellsworth has Styles’ number.

Coach says Ambrose seems to have a soft spot for Ellsworth, and Ambrose references a mangy cat and just felt for him. Coach says they are unlikely duo somewhat like the Rock N Sock Connection, and both debate which one of them is The Rock. Ambrose says Ellsworth hasn’t been in any movies, but he’s the King of the Deathmatch, so maybe they’re on to something. Ambrose jokes and tells Ellsworth to get a haircut and hit the gym, and then he could maybe be The Rock.

Ellsworth talks about how he’s not a typical WWE superstar so he always had doubts about making it big, but he kept fighting and here he is. Ambrose added that Ellsworth surprised everyone by making it big in WWE. Ambrose is asked about why he thinks their partnership, or just Ellsworth himself, made such a great connection with people. Ambrose says people picture themselves making it big and having WWE dreams, but Ellsworth actually did that, and people can see themselves in Ellsworth.

Coach asks about what Survivor Series was like, and Ambrose says that night was so big and it’s the reason they do this. He talks about Ellsworth being in the ring with The Undertaker a few days before on Smackdown, and jokes Ellsworth told him he got nervous and wet himself. Ambrose then says Ellsworth got revenge on Braun Strowman on Sunday, so it all worked.

Ellsworth says he hopes to see Ambrose win the WWE Championship at WWE TLC, then says maybe they can be tag team champions together. Coach notes he is a former champion too, so he knows about odd partnerships and says Ellsworth can definitely do it. Coach then thanks them for joining the show and signs off.
