Ricky Saints is the new WWE NXT North American champion.
Ricky Saints, formerly known as Ricky Starks, has made a strong impression since arriving in WWE NXT. Last week, during an exclusive sit-down interview with Vic Joseph, Saints was interrupted by NXT North American Champion Shawn Spears, who had a few questions.
Spears accused Saints of arrogance and making enemies wherever he went. When Saints announced his plans to challenge for the North American Title. Spears dismissed him, implying that NXT might not work out for him. He then mocked Saints’ departure from AEW, hinting that returning wasn’t an option due to him burning bridges.
Their heated exchange set up an official North American Championship match for this week’s NXT, which headlined the show. During the match’s closing moments, Saints took out The Culling’s Brooks Jensen with a clothesline and speared Niko Vance.
Turning his attention back to Shawn Spears, Saints reentered the ring, delivered a spear, and finished him off with the Rochambeau to capture the North American Title. However, Saints’ championship celebration didn’t last long, as an unexpected visitor attacked him.

Ricky Saints captured his first title in WWE NXT, but Ethan Page quickly ruined the moment. Page blindsided Saints, delivering a Twisting Neckbreaker before holding up the NXT North American Championship.
With Page making his intentions clear, a showdown between him and Saints seems inevitable at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver. However, it remains to be seen if Shawn Spears will enter the mix, turning it into a Triple Threat match.
