Countdown To Rebellion Results:

Fatal Influence vs. Xia Brookside, Léi Yǐng Lee, and Rosemary

  • The finish of the match saw Rosemary try to make Xia Brookside use brass knuckles. She refuses, and it results in her taking a discus forearm from Jacy Jayne, who scored the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: Fatal Influence

Grade: C+

The match itself was fine, but the finish was corny and overly played out. However, my biggest takeaway coming from this match is how bad either the cameras or the lighting (or both) are for this show tonight. Whatever it is has created a very distracting experience where you’re wondering more about what’s wrong with the broadcast than the actual match. I doubt this is going to get fixed by the time the proper pay-per-view starts, so I guess I’m in for a long night.

Shane Haste answers the Walk with Elijah Open Challenge.

Elijah vs. Shane Haste

  • The finish of the match saw Elijah hit Shane Haste with Highwayman’s Farewell to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Elijah

Grade: B

It was a good match. I also think I’ve pinpointed the issue with the visual quality of tonight’s show. There’s way too much red in the venue, and it’s contrasting with the cameras and lighting to create a visually displeasing look inside the ring. There’s no way something like this can be fixed. So this is what the rest of the show is going to look it. It is what it is.

TNA Rebellion Results:

TNA Rebellion kicks off with a video package hyping up tonight’s pay-per-view.

Ultimate X Match for the TNA X-Division Championship: Moose (c) vs. Leon Slater vs. Matt Cardona vs. El Hijo del Vikingo vs. KC Navarro vs. Sidney Akeem

  • The finish of the match saw a botched finish where Leon Slater came with the X-Division Championship, and both of his feet hit the mat as Moose speared him. Moose then took the title, and they gave him the win.

Winner: And still X-Division Champion (but not really), Moose

Grade: B+

This was a really great match. It’s a real shame the ending was botched and TNA didn’t just go with it instead of burying their heads in the sand. Slater won the match. It’s clear as day on video. Very disappointing stuff. The match would have easily been an A grade had the finish gone correctly.

A video package airs recapping everything Joe Hendry did with WWE during WrestleMania 41 weekend.

TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship: Ash and Heather by Elegance (c) vs. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson vs. Spitfire vs. Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley

  • The finish of the match saw interference from Maggie Lee, which allowed Ash by Elegance to hit Jody Threat with Rarified Air to score the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: And still Knockouts Tag Team Champions, Ash and Heather by Elegance

Grade: C+

All four teams tried, but this match was a mess. The titles didn’t change hands, and I’m not surprised by that. Moving on.

The Rascalz and Ace Austin (w/ Sean Waltman) vs. The System (w/ Alisha Edwards)

  • The finish of the match saw Zachary Wentz hit the UFO Cutter on Moose to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: The Rascalz and Ace Austin

Grade: B+

This was a fun match. If you’re a fan of D-Generation X, I think you’ll enjoy it even more than I did. I do need to point out that midway through this match, I had to exit TNA+ and move to Triller for the rest of this event. The non-stop issues with buffering and blackouts were just too much to bear. Furthermore, the video quality on Triller of this show DWARFS what TNA+ is putting out. A terrible night for this company’s streaming service for sure.

Gia Miller tries to interview Steve Maclin backstage. Maclin has nothing to say; he just smirks and walks away.

TNA International Championship: Steve Maclin (c) vs. Eric Young

  • The finish of the match saw Steve Maclin reverse Eric Young’s piledriver into a rollup to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still International Champion, Steve Maclin

After the match, Young and the Northern Armory attack Maclin with a steel chain and hang him by his throat over the top rope to choke him out.

Grade: B

This was a solid match, but I feel like this story between Young and Maclin has gone on far too long. Maclin should have gotten his definitive win by now, but the finish of tonight’s match and the aftermath showed we aren’t done yet. Can’t say I’m excited about seeing them go at it again.

Falls Count Anywhere: Mustafa Ali vs. Mike Santana

  • The finish of the match saw Mike Santana hit Mustafa Ali with Spin the Block to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Mike Santana

Grade: A-

This was easily the best thing on the show so far. I hope TNA has Santana and Ali under long-term deals because they should be planning their future around these two men. This match had a little bit of everything. Really fun stuff!

Gia Miller is at ringside with former WWE Superstar Indi Hartwell. It’s announced that Hartwell has signed a contract with TNA Wrestling. Hartwell says she has crossed the line.

TNA Knockouts Championship: Masha Slamovich (c) vs. Tessa Blanchard

  • The finish of the match saw Masha Slamovich lock Tessa Blanchard in an armbar to win the match via submission.

Winner: And still Knockouts Champion, Masha Slamovich

Grade: B+

This was a good match with the right result. TNA needs to make Tessa eat some humble pie for a bit to make sure she’s gonna stick around and not walk out on the company again. Putting the title back on her tonight would have been a mistake. Good call by TNA with this result.

TNA World Tag Team Championship: The Hardys (c) vs. The Nemeth Brothers

  • The finish of the match saw Nic Nemeth hit Danger Zone on Jeff Hardy, and Ryan Nemeth tags himself in to score the pinfall victory.

Winners: And new TNA Tag Team Champions, The Nemeth Brothers

Grade: B-

So that was a thing that happened. Why any wrestling company thinks it’s a good idea to put a title on Ryan Nemeth is beyond me. The match was fine, but the finish was booked for cheap heat and just came across as more stupid than anything else.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Joe Hendry (c) vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Ethan Page

  • The finish of the match saw Joe Hendry hit Ethan Page with A Standing Ovation to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still TNA World Champion, Joe Hendry

Grade: B

After the match, Trick Williams shows up and attacks Joe Hendry, laying him out with a Trick Shot as TNA Rebellion goes off the air.

TNA Rebellion Review:

This was certainly an up-and-down show all the way through. I think I enjoyed more than I didn’t, but even sitting here right now typing this, I’m not 100% sure of that. Between the terrible issues with the TNA+ app and some of the stupid creative decisions on this show, I can’t give it a high grade. TNA is capable of much more than what they are putting out, but I don’t think their current creative and management teams know what they are doing.

Grade: B-
