The Young Bucks are one of the top tag teams in AEW, but they are also two of the Executive Vice Presidents and co-founders of the promotion. Before AEW, the Bucks built their names on the independent scene, putting on incredible matches in promotions like Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.
Recently, the Young Bucks have been mulling over the idea of buying PWG. During a recent Q&A session on their Never Not Jet Lagged YouTube channel, Matt Jackson shared that he and his brother have been discussing the idea of buying PWG and starting their own indie promotion.
“Me and Nick have talked about it a lot. We’ve talked about buying PWG and reopening. We’ve talked about starting our own indie. We’ve talked about a wrestling school. I don’t know. In the next few years though, if we’re gonna do something, it’ll probably happen in the next few,” Matt Jackson said. [H/T SEScoops]
It’s unclear what the Young Bucks’ buying PWG would mean for their status in All Elite Wrestling, but they could likely manage both simultaneously. PWG has not hosted an event since PWG TWENTY: Mystery Vortex in 2023. The promotion’s current owner, Super Dragon, announced he was putting the promotion on an extended hiatus due to his girlfriend’s battle with an aggressive form of cancer. His original plan was to resume PWG shows in 2024.
The Young Bucks are currently off of AEW TV, a result of some injuries coming out of the Anarchy In The Arena match at Double Or Nothing.
