Ric Flair says he has skin cancer again.
Flair told PEOPLE that he was recently diagnosed with skin cancer. According to Flair, this is the second time he has had skin cancer in three years. Flair plans to begin treatment next week.
“It’s the second time in three years that I’ve been dealing with skin cancer,” Ric Flair told PEOPLE. “I will be undergoing treatment next week.”
Ric Flair previously denied having skin cancer, including last month when he denied having cancer of “any kind.” This was brought on after concern for Flair arose after wrestling promoter and Flair’s son-in-law, Conrad Thompson, stated that Flair previously had a skin cancer removed.
Thompson’s remark came after a fan shared a photo on Twitter/X and showed concern over Flair’s appearance. “He had a skin cancer removed but go on,” Thompson wrote on May 5.
According to PEOPLE, Flair publicly denied he had cancer again to keep his diagnosis private until he was ready to share the news. PEOPLE also said that Flair denied those reports on Thursday. However, he eventually confirmed the news, and said he “appreciate[s] the concerns!”
Flair has dealt with significant health issues in recent years, including an August 2017 hospitalization for stomach pains. Flair was put in a medically induced coma and had a low chance of survival because he was in the early stages of kidney failure and close to congestive heart failure. “The Nature Boy” returned to the ring for his retirement match in 2022. In 2024, Flair said that his doctor informed him he had a heart attack during the match, but didn’t know it.
