Matt Riddle isn’t a big fan of the headaches that CM Punk causes for others backstage in WWE.
MLW World Champion Matt Riddle recently spoke with Going Ringside. When asked if he would ever be open to working for All Elite Wrestling, Riddle said he would and explained why he believes they are trying to steer clear from hiring a bunch of former WWE talents right now.
“Yeah, I would totally work for AEW,” Matt Riddle said. “I feel like when they first started, they hired a lot of former WWE guys, and I think that left a bad taste in their mouths. Other than Moxley and maybe another couple, it didn’t really work out too well. Most of them just got fat checks and didn’t do much. So I think they don’t want to deal with that. That’s why they’re using more homegrown talent.”
When the issues with CM Punk and AEW were brought up, Riddle didn’t have any kind words for the WWE Superstar.
“Belly up and cost them fans, money, and everything else. They’re still rebuilding. I’m not a big fan of that guy, either,” Matt Riddle admitted. “That guy sucks at fighting and he’s a bitch to work with in the back. He just bellyaches and complains. This guy complains about getting multiple world title runs. That is accurate. I’ve heard from my boys that still work there that he is a headache. And this isn’t a storyline. This is the facts. So it is what it is.”
It’s worth noting that Riddle was released by WWE before CM Punk returned to the company in 2023. They had never shared a locker room, so Riddle’s info is not first-hand, and hearsay.
