Winner- Je’Von Evans
Grade: B-
Troy looks like the Pokémon evolution of Evans. This match was a classic monster vs. underdog contest that was executed to perfection. Troy is VICIOUS in the ring, mauling Evans in between tossing Evans all over the ring. After his performance against NXT Champion Oba Femi, this would have been a great follow-up win for Troy after that loss. For reasons this writer will never understand, that’s not what happened here. Evans didn’t need this win. On any level. Troy is being given a push as a monster who doesn’t actually win anything that matters. What’s the point?

Loved the way this match started. It’s rare for a match to start with such a convincing nearfall. Ruca fought from underneath the entire match, and much like the first match of the night, it worked. Ruca is going to be a star, and Dame looks to be coming along nicely.

Grade: A
This match was brutal. Page and Saints hate each other, and it showed here, yet again. Saints and Page to murder each other here with insane chair shots and wild bumps. The Ego’s Edge off the stage was insane. Saints sold that like he was dead, and he may have been. We need to see these two clash again, but with the odd inclusion of Troy laying hands on Saints leads this writer to believe Saints may be pivoting to a feud with him. Considering Troy needs a win badly, that doesn’t bode well for the Saints. Unless they plan on just beating Troy again… which… ugh.

Winner and STILL NXT Champion, Oba Femi!
Grade: B-
Why did this match need to happen? Wasn’t there anyone else Femi could face here? Nothing against Inamura, but the fact that the NXT title match isn’t the main event of this show has less to do with Femi and everything to do with his challenger. Giving Inamura one singles win to lead to this match did him and this entire angle a disservice. There was way too much Briggs in this match. They haven’t teased Briggs trying to help Inamura win matches, so this whole thing just seemed odd. If all of this was to get to a Briggs/Inamura feud, it was a total waste of Oba Femi and the NXT Championship.
So he's not with DarkState…

Winners- Jordynne Grace & Blake Monroe
Grade: B-
For Monroe’s first match in NXT, this was… fine? Solid effort, but this writer didn’t see anything here that lives up to the considerable hype following the Monroe. As someone who isn’t familiar with her work from Stardom or AEW, this wasn’t it, dawg. Having Jayne eat the pin here was also a bit of a choice. This writer’s Spidey-Sense is telling him that Grace isn’t winning the championship at Evolution, and this is yet another placeholder before getting to Jayne vs. Monroe.
WWE NXT Great American Bash Review:
As far as the in-ring action goes, tonight’s show was strong across the board. Despite that, each match felt like a setups for what’s next, rather than a finish or continuation of existing feuds. GAB is supposed to be one of the bigger shows for NXT, but nothing actually happened tonight. Odd booking decisions, like Troy taking another loss and Jayne eating the pin in a tag match, took away from a night that had good in-ring action. Match of the night honors go to Ricky Saints and Ethan Page, who should both be on the run from local authorities after being filmed committing attempted murder on live TV. Make an effort to watch their match if you haven’t already. It’s worth it. What did you think of the show? Let us know in the comments below!
