In another world, Chelsea Green may have won the WWE Royal Rumble.
In the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble, Charlotte Flair returned from action in triumphant fashion as she outlasted 29 other competitors to guarantee herself a title match of her choosing at WWE WrestleMania 41. As revealed on Netflix’s WWE: Unreal, Flair’s name was one amongst a few within internal discussions about the potential winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble. Another named pitched by the WWE creative team: former United States Champion Chelsea Green.
In a backstage meeting, WWE’s Vice President of Creative Writing Jonathan Baeckstrom initially questioned if the company should explore an underdog story in the respective match. When he then asked if there was a talent WWE wanted to take a swing on, SVP of Creative Writing Ed Koskey offered up what he called a “horrible” idea.
“You get entrant 29 in there. They come in and there’s only two women,” Koskey said. “They end up doing a double elimination, so whoever’s number 30 automatically wins. Chelsea Green walks down, wins the Royal Rumble. That’s it.”
Ultimately, Green entered the Women’s Royal Rumble from the number five spot. Her subsequent stint spanned over 26 minutes, with her ally Piper Niven accidently eliminating her. Bianca Belair, another proposed winner, last nearly 50 minutes before suffering elimination at the hands of Nia Jax. Meanwhile, Charlotte Flair bounced back from a serious knee injury by eliminating Jax and Roxanne Perez to claim victory and a WWE Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania.
