Triple H considers John Cena the greatest of all time. He sees Cody Rhodes following the same path in WWE.
During the WWE SummerSlam post-show press conference, Triple H spoke about Cody Rhodes’ role in the company. He pointed out, “Yeah and that’s it’s all the stuff that people don’t see. Well, actually, they do see it, but they don’t necessarily acknowledge it because their view is mostly just the shows themselves, Raw, SmackDown, PLEs.”
“But it’s the day-to-day. He’s on a grind. He’s doing what John Cena did. There are certain places people get to, that top level, where sometimes they want to back off the workload. Other guys want to increase the workload. Cody is of the mindset, like John Cena he’s like, ‘Give me everything. I will do every single thing you want me to. I won’t say no to anything.'”
Cody Rhodes follows the John Cena model
He sees Cody Rhodes as someone who follows John Cena’s example by accepting every opportunity and doing everything possible for the WWE.
“He’s got a wife and kid. He has a lot of other things going on. But he’s at a commitment level where he will do anything, and he will do what is right every single time for the business. He follows the John Cena model.”
“So for me, looking at it from a different point of view than just a fan watching those two in the ring tonight. I consider John the greatest of all time for a lot of reasons, not just as an in-ring performer. Cody is following that path. It was like watching the greatest of all time face a guy who’s on his way to becoming the greatest of all time. And that’s something special.”
Following his victory over John Cena at WWE SummerSlam 2025, Cody Rhodes showed respect by calling Cena the greatest of all time.
