ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith Wants To Become A Manager In WWE, Paul Heyman Responds

Does the new relationship between WWE and ESPN open the door to personalities like Stephen A. Smith becoming characters on RAW and SmackDown?

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns was a guest on this morning’s episode of ESPN’s First Take. During the segment, Stephen A. Smith wouldn’t take credit for the partnership, but once again made it abundantly clear he would love to opportunity to be a manager in WWE.

“I wish I was, but I was not,” Stephen A. Smith admitted. “The geniuses that run this company, along with the great Nick Khan, because he is great. I mean, they have more to do with it. But I must say, when I think about Paul Heyman, I do feel like there’s room for someone else.”

Roman Reigns was all for the idea, burying his former wiseman, Paul Heyman, in the process.

“I completely agree,” Roman Reigns said in response. “He’s a piece of trash. Oh yeah, we’re not on the same page anymore. Last time I was here, we were like this, and it’s not like that anymore. So there’s definitely a job. There’s some space to be filled if you know what I mean.”

The Oracle caught wind of Smith’s comments and took to social media to respond, tweeting out:

“I have always appreciated the kind words bestowed upon me by @StephenASmith on @ESPN’s @FirstTake. The term “manager” is outdated and antiquated. If someone wishes to compete with me, they need to be an #Advocate, a #Wiseman or an #Oracle. It is invigorating to know how many people still want to take their best shot at replicating the #GOAT *goat emoji* of @WWE and all of sports, entertainment and sports-entertainment,” Paul Heyman said in a post.
