Charlotte Flair is still wrapping her head around the idea of WrestleMania being outside of North America.
Every WrestleMania has been hosted in the United States and Canada in its 41-year history. This will also include Las Vegas, which will host WrestleMania 42 in 2026. WWE made headlines last week by announcing WrestleMania 43 will break from that tradition when it takes place in Saudi Arabia in 2027.
That decision has not been a popular one among fans who are upset for multiple reasons. This includes the fact that WrestleMania won’t be in North America that year. Charlotte Flair also shared her surprise over WWE taking its tentpole event to a new continent. However, she also highlighted why WrestleMania 43 shows just how much of a global brand WWE has become.
Charlotte Flair highlights how big WWE’s reach is today
“Crazy, right? I don’t know what’s more crazy, that it’s in Saudi, or that it’s out of the United States,” Flair said on Nightcap. “It’s always been our ‘Super Bowl,’ it’s been in the United States since what, 1985? So now that it is overseas, that’s what makes [you realize] how global we are.
“I think that WWE, we’ve had so many shows [in Saudi Arabia] the last couple years that I feel like — I don’t want to say home, but we wrestle there three or four times. So to have a WrestleMania there, I could see it being a big deal,” she continued. “We’ve had Crown Jewel, we’re going to have the Royal Rumble. But again, WrestleMania has been in the United States, so that’s how big the company has become.”
WrestleMania has been in the United States every year except 1990 and 2002, when SkyDome (now Rogers Centre) hosted WrestleManias 6 and 18. Many fans expected London would get the first “true” international WrestleMania event, but that honor now goes to Saudi Arabia.
