Gates of Agony: Ricochet Is Just A Chill Dude Who Loves To Train And Watch Anime

Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona have been regularly featured on AEW programming as of late, and they aren’t taking that lightly.

The duo, known as Gates of Agony, have been working their way up through the company, starting on AEW Dark in 2022. They have been linked with Tully Blanchard Enterprises, The (Mogul) Embassy and Brian Cage in the past, and recently joined Ricochet as “The Demand.”

Kaun and Liona were asked to highlight why consistency is so important for talent during a recent interview with WrestleZone. Liona pointed out that they just need the “reps” to get better, and they are going to make the most of each one.

“I’m so fresh into this game, and us as a tag team is so new. So, for us on screen together, whether it’s promo or physical altercation, every opportunity is a rep. Every rep we have is another rep we can learn from,” Toa Liona said. “Every week, our brain is just firing at a different level.”

Liona said competing in New Japan’s World Tag League in 2023 gave them a chance to wrestle every day. In addition, it also showed them what it takes to be a top performer.

“Me and him, together every day for three weeks. And from that, we built that foundation of what it takes to be at the top. So, getting the chances of every rep or you know, building on that consistency, man, that’s what it takes,” Liona noted. “So, for us to finally get that opportunity, we are going to make the most out of every single opportunity on TV.”

GOA on adjusting to The Demand

GOA was also asked about adjusting to adding Ricochet to their team. Kaun said it went by quickly, and they bonded easily.

“Maybe the first week or two, we were just getting to know each other. But then when we went out to Glasgow and London, like that, we just became tight. We are very similar people,” Bishop Kaun said. “Similar interests, the things that we are into. Very passionate and creative people, motivated to make a statement here.”

Liona added that he approached linking up with Ricochet the same way he did teaming with Kaun. Overall, he says Ricochet is a good guy whom they just like being around.

The Demand are three, like-minded people

“Honestly, I think we just did the same thing we did as a tag team,” Liona said. “When we found out we were going to be together, we both looked at each other. ‘Alright, ready to be best friends?’ And thankfully, organically, we were able to become really great friends. So, with Ricochet, it was almost the same thing.

“When we got stuck in Glasgow, or the UK for over a week, I said, ‘What’s up bud? Ready to be our friend?’” Liona added. “He’s a great dude. It’s just nice in this day and age just to be around good people and like-minded people. Because, man, we are really easy-going people. We don’t have no problems, and for the most part, he’s the same way. He’s a chill dude who just loves to train and just watch anime.”

The Demand looks to continue their feud with The Hurt Business, who they beat in six-man tag team action at All Out. MVP came out on this week’s episode of Dynamite and challenged The Demand to a street fight on next week’s show.
