Ric Flair has advised John Cena to retire from wrestling after his final WWE match.
WWE confirmed that John Cena’s farewell match will headline Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 at Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. With only five appearances left on his retirement tour, John Cena, who became a 17-time world champion and broke Ric Flair’s record, has received advice from Flair.
In an interview with Escapist Magazine, the Nature Boy noted that Cena has already achieved a lot in wrestling and is now making a lot of money in movies. “Well, he is making so damn much money in the movies right now. He doesn’t need to do anything. I hope that he’ll walk away and stay away.”
He also highlighted that wrestling can be addictive, and after more than 20 years in the ring, it can be hard to change that lifestyle. “Wrestling is very addictive. When you’ve done it as long as John has, over 20 years, it’s hard to change your way of life. But he already has, because he’s taken big lapses of time off.”
“And he is very happily married, his wife is lovely. They’re building a new home here in Tampa. So I see John periodically, but I can’t say enough nice things about John Cena. He’s a wonderful person.” When asked about Cena became a 17-time World Champion, Flair said he thinks very highly of him. He said, “I love it. I think the world of John.”
