Triple H is excited to honor his former rival.
On December 13, John Cena will step into Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. for the final match of his Hall of Fame-worthy career. For such an occasion, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has promised a special night both for fans and Cena himself under the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event banner.
“John’s contributions to WWE are immeasurable,” Triple H said in a press release. “There are no words that can truly relay how much he means to this business. Together with our partners at Events DC and Capital One Arena, we look forward to honoring his legacy and delivering an unforgettable send-off for both John and the WWE Universe.”
As it stands, Cena has five dates left on his retirement tour, including WWE SNME and Crown Jewel on October 11. The former WWE Champion will also appear at WWE Survivor Series in San Diego and a pair of Raw episodes in New York City and Boston, Massachusetts.
While Cena’s opponent for Saturday Night’s Main Event has yet to be determined, Triple H previously confirmed that he’d face “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles at Crown Jewel. Like Triple H, Styles is a former foe of Cena’s, with their last singles encounter taking place on the February 27, 2018 edition of WWE SmackDown. Cena and Styles later reunited in the ring for a dark tag team match in September 2023, then as opposition in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble.
Cena signed with WWE in 2001. Across the next 24 years, he’d capture 17 world titles.
