Mark Henry Responds To Ageist Comments About LA Knight

Mark Henry addresses ageist criticism of LA Knight

LA Knight is one of the most over superstars on the WWE roster today. His charisma and in-ring skills have transformed him into a main-event player after a lengthy stint in the mid-card. That being said, critics often bring up Knight’s age as the major factor preventing Triple H from booking him to win a world title.

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has basically fired back at the ageist comments about LA Knight. Speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast, the former World’s Strongest Man pointed to past booking practices where performers wouldn’t even get a title shot until they were 40.

“As far as him being too old, there was a time where in wrestling, you didn’t even get your shot until you were 40. You didn’t get a shot. Guys wrestled into their 60s,” Henry said.

Mark Henry wasn’t originally a fan of LA Knight

Mark Henry prefaced his response to the ageist comments by putting over LA Knight in a big way, noting that he wasn’t originally a believer in the former United States Champion, but Knight’s charisma proved him wrong.

“LA Knight is an outstanding talent,” Henry said. “There was a time when I didn’t believe. I thought that he leaned on what other people did and are doing too much, and not creating his own thing. He has proved that he belongs and deserves the opportunity to be the guy.

“There’s things that he does that I would say, ‘Hey man, segue out of that and do more of what you’re really good at,’ which is walk and talk. He’s a good wrestler, at the end of the day. There’s so much that he can do that he doesn’t do, and you need to lean into that.”
