At WWE Crown Jewel 2025, John Cena will lock horns against AJ Styles in a singles match. The rematch between these two veterans was long anticipated by fans, and it is finally about to unfold. Amid this, WWE released new merchandise of the Franchise Player, but with a twist.
Most of the shirts on Cena’s retirement tour have flashy graphics and fit the theme of the city he’s in. However, his newest one doesn’t have anything fancy, and only has his name printed on the front of it. The timing of this shirt’s release is confusing, because it seemingly belongs to the now-shelfed heel character of the 17x World Champion.
When the fan-favorite star turned heel early this year, he dropped all his colorful attire. He even made entrances without any theme song and titantron to sell the heel turn.
“You can’t see him, but you can wear him! Show your loyalty to the never-seen 17-time Champion by snagging this Ripple Junction John Cena Text T-Shirt,” the description on WWEShop reads. “This comfortable crew neck tee features minimalist John Cena graphics printed across the chest, leaving no doubt you’ve been a member of the Cenation through thick and thin. Made from 100% cotton, this short-sleeve shirt is a comfortable way to show off your appreciation for one of WWE’s all-time greats.”
This shirt probably would have been more fitting while Cena’s heel run was active. Cena turned heel at Elimination Chamber 2025 when he attacked Cody Rhodes and joined forces with The Rock. However, just ahead of SummerSlam this year, Cena suddenly dropped his heel gimmick and turned into a babyface star again.
