Booker T Responds To Criticism Over Recent Jade Cargill Comments

Booker T is clapping back at those who were baffled by his recent comments regarding WWE Superstar Jade Cargill.

The September 26 main event of WWE SmackDown got fans talking for all the wrong reasons. This was due to multiple issues that took place in the match between Tiffany Stratton, Nia Jax, and Jade Cargill. The finish of the match was botched due to a late pin breakup. Not to mention, Cargill was busted open the hard way during the bout.

Booker T placed the blame on Cargill’s time in AEW. And stated that she is still fresh off that run and didn’t learn a lot during her time there. Booker failed to mention that Cargill signed with WWE in 2023 and has wrestled more matches there than she did in AEW. These comments baffled many people in WWE, AEW, and TNA.

Booker T responds…

On the latest episode of The Hall of Fame Podcast, NXT commentator Booker T spoke in-depth about the response to his recent comments about Cargill.

“I want to debate about my post,” Booker T began. “It’s about these journalists just writing these stories. And the thing is, none of these guys have ever taken one bump. Have never taken one wrestling class. And if they would like to take a wrestling class, I would say, come to my fantasy camp and see what a five-hour day consists of, and how you make it out of that five-hour day.

“Trust me, I promise you, you’re going to be saying, ‘I wish I wouldn’t have never thought about doing something like this.’ I want to talk about the two years in the business… being on an active roster, and how hard it is to go out and perform in front of 20, 30, 50, 100,000 people being that young in the business.

“I give her a lot of credit, to be able to walk out in front of those people not having the experience of a Charlotte Flair, not having the experience of a Bayley… but still say, ‘Man, I’m willing to step in the middle of the frying pan and cook as good as I possibly can.’

Booker T wants a wrestler from WWE, AEW, or TNA to tell him he’s wrong

“WWE wrestlers, TNA wrestlers, as well as AEW, what name one wrestler that has snapped back on me and said Booker T is wrong? Name one. I want to see the one wrestler because I think the wrestlers in the business know exactly what I’m talking about… I’m willing to talk and debate with anyone that’s in this business, to debate with me about what two years is, because I know what two years in the business is.

“What I knew, which was very, very little. Think about the guys that Kurt Angle was working with that was able to go out there and lead him and guide him… I was one of those guys. Think about the people that Brock Lesnar worked with… I was one of those guys. Think about Goldberg and the guys he had to work with. I was one of those guys.

“So I know what it’s like working with someone that’s got that kind of experience, and knowing what I have to do to go out there and make that person look like they have been there and done that for many, many years. I can almost guarantee you that her first two years, Jade’s first two years, she didn’t work with anyone like Dusty Wolfe.

“I said, ‘Mr. Wolfe, I would appreciate it if you could lead me and guide me through this match.’ And I was winning the match… and I learned so much in that match listening to Dusty Wolfe… That’s what being in the business is, at that stage. If you ain’t got your ears open, learning from someone like a Dusty Wolfe, you’re going to be swimming upstream.” [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]

Who trained Jade Cargill during her time in AEW?

It’s worth noting that Cargill has noted multiple times about learning from Dustin Rhodes during her time in AEW.

“I’ve been working with Dustin. Dustin’s really been geared in,” Jade Cargill said on AEW Unrestricted in 2020. “He’s been making sure that I’m prepared. He made my debut super easy for me. He talked me through everything as well as QT at the Nightmare Factory. They’ve been sitting down, talking to me, rehearsing with me, making sure that everything is perfect.”

Years later, Cargill would praise the coaching she also received from Bryan Danielson.

“There is no way to create a legacy or become a household name by just showing up,” Jade Cargill said to Sports Illustrated. “I’m not going to take anything for granted. No one will say, and no one has ever said, ‘Jade is lazy’ or ‘Jade is just trying to get by on her looks.’ That’s because I work my butt off. I worked with Bryan [Danielson], and this was before I’d have matches.”

“I’d be sweating my butt off, taking hard bumps, feeling like my shoulder was about to give out, but I didn’t care if I was tired or sore. I was getting the best coaching, and I wasn’t about to take that for granted.”
