Bishop Dyer Loves That Fans Still Talk About Loser Eats Dog Food Match

Bishop Dyer has a lot of great memories from his WWE career, even some of the stuff that made his character look silly.

Dyer recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about some of the highlights, as well as some of the more infamous moments, from his wrestling career.

One of those from the latter category came on the January 31, 2020 episode of WWE SmackDown. Dyer (then Baron Corbin), Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler teamed up against Roman Reigns and The Usos. The match carried a stipulation that the loser would eat dog food, which stemmed from Corbin attacking Reigns, aka “The Big Dog,” and covering him in dog food.

It was juvenile and gross, but fans still talk about it, for better or worse. During the conversation, Pritchard mentioned that Dyer was probably tired of hearing about that match and asked him to name some other underappreciated moments in his career he’d like to give more love to. Instead of shying away, Dyer said he’s actually proud that fans still talk about it, even if the payoff came at his expense.

Baron Corbin accomplished his goal of entertaining WWE fans

“The dog food, the Happy Corbin, the terrible music. All of those things, I’m still proud of and love that those are still topics of conversation. Because, yeah, I get a dog food tweet once a day, it seems like,” he explained. “Yeah, it was disgusting, it smelled awful. It was not my most shining moment. But it was funny, because I had a conversation with Hunter about it one time. He’s like, ‘Dude, I used to wrestle pig slop matches.’ And like [he moved on and became a great star]. So, that’s one of those things that’s always been around. And mine’s just the most recent disgusting segment of television, the dog food. So, it is what it is.”

Dyer compared it to the gross-out factor of the Terrifier film franchise, noting that he believes he accomplished his goal as an entertainer.

“I’m just here to have fun and entertain people. I think that did, as well as it grossed a few people out. So, it continues to be a topic of conversation,” Bishop Dyer said.
