The Smashing Machine, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as MMA legend Mark Kerr, is now available to stream on demand.
The Rock is encouraging fans to watch the Mark Kerr biopic at home. Taking to X, Johnson shared a brief message to announce The Smashing Machine’s digital release.
“There’s no other high like it. It all became a drug. Pressure. Benny Safdie’s THE SMASHING MACHINE is now available to watch at home *boxing glove emoji* #thesmashsingmachine”
Despite the movie’s underwhelming box office run, it received favorable reviews from critics, with Johnson in particular earning praise for his transformative performance as Mark Kerr. The Rock previously said The Smashing Machine changed his life.
“It was my honor to transform in this role for my director Benny Safdie @bowedtie. Thank you brother for believing in me. Truth is this film has changed my life. With deep gratitude, respect and radical empathy,” he wrote.
WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle said the movie deserved recognition at the Oscars. The movie also stars Emily Blunt as Mark Kerr’s ex-wife, Dawn Staples, Ryan Bader as Mark Coleman, and Bas Rutten as himself.
