AEW star Darby Allin and Tony Hawk are giving back to the skateboarding community in Henry County, Georgia.
During a recent appearance on One Fall Wrestling, the former AEW TNT Champion revealed they have received approval to build a skate park in Henry County.
Allin spoke at length about the project during an interview with 1FW’s Tony Miller, explaining what it means for the local skateboarding community to finally have a skate park that is not located a long distance away.
“You heard it right, man — Heritage Park,” Darby said. “Henry County has given us a whole plot of land to build a skate park. I moved here in 2019 and realized the nearest skate park was 30 minutes away. I thought, ‘This is crazy,’ because honestly, I wouldn’t be here without skateboarding, and I really mean that.
“So I wanted to do anything I could to help out and inspire people. That’s why I climbed Mt. Everest for Tony Hawk’s charity, The Skatepark Project. We got the ball rolling, and Henry County gave us that land in Heritage Park. Now we’re ready to rock.”
Darby Allin on what skate park means to the youth
“Oh, dude, it changes lives. Skateboarding changes lives. To have something for the people growing up in this area, you know? Henry County is getting bigger and bigger, and these people need more things for the kids to do. And the skate park is going to help out a lot.”
