NWA Star Takes Dig At New AEW Title, Tells Tony Khan To Stop Being Petty

An NWA star has asked Tony Khan to stop being petty after AEW announced a new championship.

AEW President Tony Khan announced the introduction of the new AEW National Championship on social media before this week’s episode of Dynamite. The company has announced a Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear on November 22 to crown the inaugural champion.

However, AEW’s announcement has been met with some harsh words from NWA talent, as the promotion has a National Heavyweight Championship with a much longer lineage. Reigning NWA World Television Champion Bryan Idol took to X/Twitter to voice his displeasure over the new AEW National Championship.

The NWA star asked Tony Khan not to be petty and had a back-and-forth debate with another user, claiming the new title’s legacy does not live up to that of the NWA National Heavyweight title. He also took shots at several current and former AEW stars, including Orange Cassidy.

“Tony, this is beneath you. Stick to what made you famous. small weird hands in the pocket wrestlers and other local vfw guys that you put in main events..stop being petty bro.

“I’m not hating , thats his legacy . not the national title. tony kahn has featured wierd and eclectic wrestlers like orange cassidy and local vfw heros lime joey janela and nick gage . thats what aews bread and butter is not NWA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP LEGACY.

“Marko stunt -small

Orange Cassidy – weird hands in pockets wrestler style

Janela /Gage – local vfw heros who were given main event glory

Thats aew’s legacy. hope that clears it up.”

Bryan Idol Also Said He Won’t Stand For Anyone Trying To Steal From NWA

Bryan Idol also claimed that he doesn’t care about burning bridges with AEW and that he doesn’t stand for anyone trying to steal from NWA.

“I also don’t give a shit about bridge burning or whatever people say I am 100% the nwa and I’ll never stand for anybody trying to steal from us or do us dirty. and I would show up in person and defend this honor against all consequences. Anywhere any place anytime!”
