An NWA star has reacted to Vince Russo using the company’s name to promote his new role in another wrestling promotion.
After rumors of him potentially joining the National Wrestling Association as a writer surfaced online, Vince Russo refuted those claims, revealing that he’s now an investor in Juggalo Championship Wrestling, a promotion owned by Insane Clown Posse.
However, he did sarcastically play into the rumor a bit during an episode of his BroDown podcast, mentioning NWA by name. Now, reigning NWA World Television Champion Bryan Idol has reacted to Vince Russo using the situation, claiming the former WWF writer used NWA’s name for clout to promote another wrestling promotion.
Taking to X/Twitter, Bryan Idol said that Vince Russo using NWA’s name for promotional tactics says a lot about the success of the company and that he’d always defend and protect the brand.
“I think it says a lot about the @nwa, that Vince Russo used it for clout to swerve to promote another company. I also don’t mind defending it to haters here, because I am proud of what the NWA has accomplished, and I will always defend and protect this brand!
“Case and point we have out TV and Indie, promotions, and many of the same building buildings that we’ve run in. It’s not an accident what we have is physical and tangible, and full of growth and potential! People can hate, but that doesn’t make it facts. The N.W.A. is super legit.”
Vince Russo Hasn’t Written For A Wrestling Promotion Since 2018
Vince Russo is known for his creative roles with WWF, WCW, and TNA over the years. However, the last time he worked in a creative capacity for a wrestling promotion was between December 2017 and April 2018, when he signed with Aro Lucha, a Nashville-based promotion, as a Script Consultant.
The company recently announced its dissolution, claiming WWE’s purchase of AAA has made it hard for them to function as an independent promotion.
