Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to receive a major award next year.
Variety reports that the former WWE Champion turned actor will be honored at the 8th American Black Film Festival Honors, slated for February 16 the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Johnson will specifically receive the Entertainment Icon Award.
“Dwayne Johnson is the very definition of an entertainment icon,” Nice Crowds co-CEOs Jeff Friday and Nicole Friday told Variety. “From his trailblazing career in sports entertainment to his extraordinary success in film and television, he has become one of the most influential and beloved figures in global culture. His journey embodies the power of perseverance, authenticity, and charisma — values that reflect the spirit of ABFF. We are thrilled to honor him with this year’s Entertainment Icon Award and to celebrate his incredible contributions to the world of entertainment.”
The 2026 American Black Film Festival Honors will be presented by Nice Crowd, with best-selling author and award-winning comedian KevOnStage serving as the event host. As for Johnson, he is coming off the recent success of “The Smashing Machine” and “Moana 2.”
“Zootopia 2,” in which Johnson stars as an accident-prone dik-dik named Zeke, releases in theaters next week. Fellow WWE stars CM Punk and Roman Reigns will make their voices heard in the animated film as well.
Johnson also just started shooting his new Jumanji movie, and shared an Easter Egg he included as a tribute to the late Robin Williams.
Elsewhere at the American Black Film Festival Honors, Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson will be recognized with the Renaissance Award. Director and executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield has earned the Evolution Award. “F1” star Damson Idris will receive the Horizon Award.’
