Former WWE Superstar Jimmy Wang Yang shot down a long-standing rumor about Tajiri.
During his recent appearance on the Velvet Ropes podcast, host SoCal Val asked Jimmy Wang Yang about a long-standing rumor that former WWE Tag Team Champion Tajiri spoke fluent English, but pretended like he couldn’t.
Jimmy Wang Yang revealed that he came across several Japanese wrestlers who can speak about three languages, including English. However, they don’t speak fluent English, but know it enough to understand what’s going on.
“I’ve seen all those guys drop the act when no one’s looking. They don’t have perfect English, but they know what’s going on. Tajiri, Ultimo Dragon, they all speak like five different languages. It’s surprising, because they all know Spanish, they know Japanese, English, like, I guess, three different languages. I hate to break kayfabe to people, but a lot of them do.”

Speaking in the same interview, Jimmy Wang Yang recalled former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts getting pranked during a European tour. Someone took his passport before their flight from London, which resulted in him being stranded there for almost three days.
“Well, I’m old, you know, so the ribs back in the day were brutal,” he said. “It’s not like, ‘haha, oh my God, did you really do that?’ I’ve seen so much, but it’s just bad. My generation is different from the new-school generation.
“I remember being in Europe, and they took Justin Roberts’ passport before the flight. I was like, ‘wow, that’s bad.’ We were in London, at the airport, and they just took his passport… Yeah. He was stuck there for like two or three days. They took his passport back to the States.”
