It sounds like WWE is planning for a third match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, but will it take place at WrestleMania 42?
Last weekend at WWE Survivor Series, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns failed to win the Men’s WarGames match after Bron Breakker scored the pinfall victory on CM Punk. Following the match, Reigns and Rhodes faced off, and the Tribal Chief declared this would be the last time the two of them would ever team up, teasing a future rematch between them.
While many immediately assumed this was planting the seeds for another match between these two men at WrestleMania 42, that might not be the case.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning a third match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, but not necessarily for WrestleMania 42.
Before Seth Rollins‘ injury, the plan was for Rollins and Reigns to face each other in a one-on-one match at WrestleMania 42. While Rollins has expressed his desire to work WrestleMania next year, it’s too early to determine if that can actually happen.
With WWE looking for marquee matches for next year’s Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, it wouldn’t surprise us to see the rubber match between Rhodes and Reigns take place there.
One thing is for certain: a third match between Rhodes and Reigns in 2026 is imminent. Where it ends up taking place, we’ll find out soon enough.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
