WWE’s Bayley Got Dumped For Constantly Talking About Matt Hardy

Bayley reveals why her high school boyfriend broke up with her.

Speaking to The Undertaker and Michelle McCool on the Six Feet Under podcast, former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley revealed that her high school boyfriend dumped her because she was constantly talking about Matt Hardy.

Bayley noted that she was a big fan of The Hardys growing up and recalled meeting Matt Hardy at an independent wrestling event. She said that she couldn’t stop talking about Hardy to her then-boyfriend, which eventually annoyed him and led to their breakup.

“I dated a guy in high school, and this was when Matt Hardy had gotten released, and he had worked the home promotion that I ended up training at. So, he was on the show, and so, I got to meet, like, The Hardys were my favorite.

“So, I got to meet him, and it was all I talked about. I was 15 years old, and it was all I was talking about to this guy, and I didn’t even realize it. He ended up dumping me because he was like, ‘Dude, all you talk about is Matt Hardy,’ and I was so embarrassed,” Bayley said.

Bayley Revealed How A Pet Store Influenced Her Wrestling Career

Speaking in the same interview, Bayley revealed how she got her first in-ring name, Davina Rose. She recalled working at a pet store while she was training to be a wrestler and noted the name was a combination of her middle name and the names of her co-worker’s mother and trainer’s first girlfriend.

“The same co-worker (the one she worked with at the pet store), he was talking about his mom, and for some reason, he said, ‘Oh, my mom’s name is Davina,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s beautiful.’

“So, my trainer, Jason Styles, hated every name I was throwing out there,” Bayley continued, “and he was like, ‘No, that’s not it,’ and I knew I wanted Rose, because Rose is my middle name, so I wanted it somewhere in there. He hated everything, and I texted him when my co-worker said his mom’s name, and I said, ‘Hey, what about Davina Rose?’ And Jason texted me back like, ‘Oh, that’s it!’

“The first woman he was ever with, that was her name. So, he’s like, ‘I love that name, that sounds beautiful,’ so that’s how I got his permission. It flowed really well together. I was super happy with my first name,” Bayley said.
