Tony Khan reacts to William Regal’s recent comments about wrestlers performing high-risk maneuvers and ignoring neck injuries.
WWE Vice-President of Global Talent Development, William Regal, recently made headlines when he issued a stern warning to current wrestlers about the dangers of ignoring neck injuries. However, his comments sparked a debate after some fans and wrestling personalities believed they were in response to an incident from AEW World’s End, where Jon Moxley dropped Kyle Fletcher on his head.
Speaking on The Mark Hoke Show Pro Wrestling Radio / Podcast, AEW President Tony Khan reacted to William Regal’s comments and opened up on how AEW takes care of the health and safety of its wrestlers.
“The pro wrestlers are always taking hard-hitting, high-risk chances, and that’s one of the things that makes pro wrestling so exciting,” Tony Khan began. “But in AEW, we’ve been able to have all these great events, and we’ve never had a career-ending injury like that from our wrestling. And I don’t think that AEW is any different than any other wrestling promotion in the world, where the wrestlers want to do their very best.
“Sometimes, the promotions will step in, and AEW and I have, in times, stepped in and said, ‘I can’t do that. I don’t think that’s a good idea.’ And I don’t want to do that every day or in every match, but there’s times when it comes up, and it’s okay.

“But I thought World’s End was a great show, and I thought everything about it was wonderful. If anybody was talking about Kyle Fletcher vs. John Moxley, that’s one of my favorite matches of all time. It’s all subjective. The best match is always in the eye of the beholder.
“So, I do think that it’s something to really be proud of for AEW to hang our hats on. How fantastic the year was, and all of our wrestlers are doing well, and we’re really proud of what AEW accomplished in 2025, going into 2026. Everything you’re talking about, these are things you constantly balance in sports. Not just in AEW, but in all sports. You know, taking care of athletes and doing things that protect the health and safety of the athletes, that make the sport work,” Tony Khan said.
