Edge and Lita Didn’t Want To Do WWE’s Live Sex Celebration

Edge and Lita were reluctant to do their infamous live sex celebration in WWE, but they had no choice.

A day after Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on John Cena to win the WWE Championship at New Year’s Revolution 2005, he had the infamous live sex celebration with his then on-screen girlfriend, Lita. It turned out to be one of the most controversial segments in WWE history. It earned RAW a 5.2 rating, the highest for the show in over a year at that time.

Both Edge and Lita have addressed the segment on various occasions over the years, and clips from two of their interviews are making the rounds on X/Twitter once again. Despite their concerns, former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon insisted on proceeding, leaving the two Hall of Famers no choice but to comply.

Speaking to Logan Paul on IMPAULSIVE, Edge shared, “That was the night after I won the title for the first time. When that was brought to me, I was like, ‘Ahh, you really don’t want to do that.’ But here we are. But now, where I’m at in terms of like, I am full-on dad, so when I think about that, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’

“What happened is it became headline stuff, and I looked at Twitch always as my clubhouse. Also, I’m never breaking any stories there. I had talked about that I was not cool with doing that,” Lita said about the segment with Edge while speaking on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette. I’ve talked about that since 2005. It just never made any headlines, but now, since we’ve fortunately evolved as a climate in society, it was like shocking just not that long ago. But, yeah, my story’s never changed.
