The WWE romance storyline between Trish Stratus and Jeff Hardy ended before it really got to pick up any steam. But why did this happen?
Back in 2003, WWE featured a romance storyline between Trish Stratus and Jeff Hardy. The beginning of the storyline saw Hardy save Stratus from an attack, which led to a kiss between the two performers. The company planned to intertwine with Lita’s association with The Hardys and rivalry with Stratus.
Reports over the years stated that Hardy’s personal issues led to the storyline being scrapped before it could fully take shape on WWE programming.
Decades later, Trish Stratus is setting the record straight.
Stratus recently took to social media to post a picture of her and Jeff Hardy, revealing that an injury to her ankle is what derailed their storyline in 2003, tweeting out:
“We had big plans! But alas… it was my fault – I broke my ankle *woman shrugging emoji* *crutch emoji,*” Trish Stratus said in a post.
While this took place ages ago, it’s nice to hear the real reason the story was scrapped from Stratus herself.
