Matt Hardy has shared the real reason why his brother Jeff Hardy turned down a WWE Hall of Fame induction.
Hardy responded to a post on X/Twitter that claimed WWE approached Jeff about getting inducted into the Hall of Fame as a singles star and that he turned it down because he wanted to get inducted alongside his brother.
Matt Hardy clarified that WWE offered Jeff Hardy a solo Hall of Fame induction after a clean drug test, but with alcohol still an issue. He further claimed that the promotion wanted to prevent Jeff from going to AEW by any means necessary, and that’s why they offered him the induction. However, the former world champion chose to reunite with his brother at AEW.
“For the record – WWE offered Jeff the HOF because his drug test returned as no drugs – But alcohol was the problem. The WWE wanted to keep Jeff from going to AEW by any means necessary, so they offered the HOF but he had to re-sign. Jeff chose to reunite with me at AEW. #MattFacts,” Matt Hardy said.
Jeff and Matt Hardy are currently competing for TNA Wrestling and recently won the company’s Tag Team Championship for the fifth time. They won the title in a massive four-way tag team ladder match at the TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view. They are currently gearing up to end their eight-month feud with the Righteous when they collide in a cinematic-style “Righteous Deletion” match at the famous Hardy Compound this week on iMPACT.
