MJF‘s indie wrestling opponent shares his thoughts ahead of their big title match.
On Friday, Maxwell Jacob Friedman returns to Limitless Wrestling. The AEW World Champion will put his title on the line against Alec Price, a rising star on the independent circuit, at the Limitless Rumble in Lewiston, Maine.
In a new interview with Undisputed’s Justin Barrasso, Price expressed his excitement about facing MJF for the AEW World Championship. He also praised the match as a valuable opportunity to wrestle on TV.
“This is a career-changing opportunity,” said Price. “MJF is the biggest star with the biggest title, and I respect that, but I have something to prove. There is a whole other level I haven’t broken through to yet, and this is my chance to do it. When the bell rings, I can’t wait to prove that the indies are strong and that I belong on TV.”
MJF also spoke ahead of his much-anticipated return to the independent circuit, calling it the “lifeblood of our sport.” He took the opportunity to put over Alec Price in classic MJF fashion.
“I look at a guy like Alec Price, who was just starting to get hot when I was getting out of the independent scene, and I could see right away that the guy could talk and he could wrestle. I love his tag partner Jordan Oliver, too. But Alec, he was smaller than my f*cking left calf. Now he put on size, and he’s added even more attitude and charisma.”
MJF most recently defended his title against ROH World Champion Bandido on AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage. Fans can check out WrestleZone’s coverage of the show here.
