Rey Mysterio is back in the spotlight and not in a good reasons following WWE Royal Rumble 2026.
Mysterio was nowhere to be seen on this week’s WWE RAW, which got fans concern. He was also not seen during Penta’s match against Bronson Reed which had the Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory at ringside.
Later, Michael Cole brought it up during the broadcast, telling everyone that Mysterio’s injuries after the Royal Rumble are pretty serious. At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, Mysterio entered the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match at number four, but lasted just 2 minutes and 43 seconds before being eliminated by rising star Oba Femi.
The quick exit stood out, especially given the reports of his injury scare. This all traces back to the week before on WWE RAW, Mysterio faced Austin Theory, where his knee bent in a way that made everyone wince after performing a hurricanrana on the floor. Officials rushed in as he needed help getting backstage, and he was not involved in the post-match attack by The Vision.
While the visual caused immediate concern the reports at the time suggested the injury was not believed to be serious and that Mysterio was still planned for the Men’s Royal Rumble match.
In fact, Mysterio later confirmed that he was headed to Saudi Arabia for Royal Rumble weekend despite the lingering injury worries. Now, however, Cole’s comments on RAW have reignited speculation.
As of now, nobody really knows if Mysterio picked up a fresh injury, made his old one worse, or if WWE’s just working this into the story with The Vision.
