Blake Monroe reflects on checking off a big bucket list item.
Monroe spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard at WWE 2K26 Creator Fest about her inclusion in the WWE 2K26 video game. Monroe learned about the “surreal” moment at the event, which she said made her emotional.
“That’s a big one. I mean, it’s one of those bucket list things. I think it’s like WrestleMania, a video game, an action figure being signed to WWE. They’re the big ones,” Monroe explained. “I didn’t know if I was going to be in it. I hoped I was, but I knew I kind of just got signed. And seeing that video was one of those pinch-me moments. Definitely shed a tear or two. It was just surreal. And like you say, you grow up as a kid. Every kid loves video games. So now you guys can all play as me.”
Blake Monroe needs to stand out in a competitive WWE NXT women’s division
Blake Monroe’s WWE NXT debut was highlighted by a vignette inspired by Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour. The former NXT Women’s North American Champion also confirmed she was inspired by Marilyn Monroe and Bewitched. It was hard to sum up how many influences were included, but the overall idea was to stand out like no one else.
“It’s hard to sum up in a minute who you are without words because I didn’t really speak [in the video]. So my biggest thing was I wanted to be in the bath. Nobody else does that. So I was like, okay, well, that’s unique. But I try to draw from a lot of different stuff, especially for me. I feel like NXT is so competitive and these women are all athletes. So how can I stand out?
“I can raise my game in the ring and I can train with them and I always try to step up to their level, but I have something they don’t. It’s that charisma, and it’s that drama that I bring to everything I do. They can’t match it, so that’s what I hone into and I draw inspiration from. And I’m always watching things or reading things like, ‘What if that was a wrestling promo?’”
Monroe said she will often text writers to pitch ideas. Their reactions range from ‘You’re insane’ to ‘You know what? Yeah, we can do that.’”
WWE 2K26 is available now through early access. The global release of the game is on March 13.
