Dominik Mysterio walked into the March 2 episode of Monday Night Raw as Intercontinental Champion. He didn’t walk out with the gold.
What made the loss even stranger wasn’t just what happened in the ring — but what happened before the bell ever rang.
Danhausen Hilariously Causes Dominik Mysterio To Lose His Title
Earlier in the night, newly debuted WWE Superstar Danhausen crossed paths with The Judgment Day backstage.
After presenting Raw General Manager Adam Pearce with a list of unusual demands — including a Hall of Fame induction and even a personal blimp — Danhausen was mocked by Dominik and company.
The self-proclaimed “Very Nice, Very Evil” star responded the only way he knows how: by placing a curse on Mysterio.
Whether coincidence or comedy, the timing proved costly.
In the main event, Mysterio defended the Intercontinental Championship against Penta, with Finn Balor and JD McDonagh seated at ringside.
The match was fast and physical from the start. Penta connected with a tope con giro, while Dominik answered with a DDT on the apron and a Michinoku Driver for a nearfall.
Momentum swung repeatedly. Dominik landed a 619 but failed to capitalize with the Frog Splash — a rare miss at a critical moment. Penta quickly transitioned into the Sacrifice armbar before sealing the win with the Penta Driver.
Penta scored the pinfall and became the new WWE Men’s Intercontinental Champion.
Throughout the bout, Dominik appeared visibly rattled. At one point, he even attempted to have McDonagh retrieve the timekeeper’s hammer before Bálor told him to handle business on his own. Instead, Penta flipped the script — and the title picture — in one decisive sequence.
Danhausen debuted just days earlier at Elimination Chamber, emerging from a mystery crate and signing a multi-year deal. If this was the curse at work, Dominik may be wishing he’d kept his comments to himself.
Very nice for Penta. Very evil for Dominik.
