Former WWE Star Says He Only Has A Few Years Left In Wrestling

Bishop Dyer wants to make the most of his time left in the wrestling business.

Dyer, formerly known as Baron Corbin, left WWE in 2024 and quickly caught on with MLW. He’s currently a reigning World Tag Team Champion along with Donovan Dijak, collectively known as The Skyscrapers. He also has a recurring host role on Busted Open Radio, where he analyzes the pro wrestling business, which is also often met with criticism.

Dyer doesn’t consider himself to be an authority on wrestling, so he doesn’t understand why people get so upset over it. He knows social media can also be pretty fickle about pro wrestling. This includes a recent interaction that saw him defending Oba Femi over wrestling on WWE Main Event, despite some fans believing it’s a punishment of sorts.

Oba being in a dark match, that’s a rep in front of a live crowd. That’s only good for him. Plus, Main Event gets seen in an insane number of countries. I just don’t get the criticism sometimes,” he told WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. “Especially when people who have never done it are the ones really trying to emphasize what’s right and wrong. Again, if that’s your opinion, cool. Run with it.”

Bishop Dyer loved every part of his WWE career and loves getting to now wrestle in promotions like MLW and AEW. He doesn’t understand why people are so bitter about wrestling. Dyer pointed out that he doesn’t have to wrestle anymore; he does it out of love for the business.

Bishop Dyer is taking a more positive approach to his wrestling career

“I love watching other guys find success. I get to go to MLW and work with talent that I’ve never worked with before. And I hope they have all the success in the world. I get to go to House of Glory and work with Zilla Fatu and think, ‘Man, I hope this dude gets so big, makes so much money, and gets to work WrestleMania because that’s a privilege.’ Or gets to work an AEW show like All Out or All In — whatever it is.

Dyer said he has about five years left as an in-ring competitor and wants to spend it helping the next generation.

“I want these opportunities for these guys. And if I can help them in any way, I will, because I love this. I’ve got probably five years left in me to want to get in a ring, get beat up, take bumps, and do all that. The fact that some people come off bitter and angry when talking about wrestling is just a bummer,” he explained.

“I love it, dude. If you don’t like it, there’s plenty of music out there in the world [that] I don’t like. But I don’t spend my time on Twitter telling people what I don’t like,” he noted. “I’d rather [share a new band I found than be negative]. I think wrestling should be the same way.”
