The Hardys want the honor of bringing the first-ever cinematic match to AMC.
Speaking to WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard in a recent interview, TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys shared their thoughts on a potential cinematic match with The Righteous on AMC.
The Hardys are known for escaping into the “Broken” universe with their various Deletion matches in WWE, AEW and TNA, including the Final Deletion. Now, Matt and Jeff want to compete in the first one in the AMC era on TNA.
“Yeah. When we first started working with them, my immediate thought was, ‘Wow, we’ve got to do the first cinematic match on AMC — The Righteous versus The Hardys on the Hardy Compound or maybe somewhere else.’ I’m super excited about the first cinematic match on AMC,” Jeff Hardy said.
Matt Hardy began by praising Vincent and Dutch, noting that Vincent was a big Hardy Boyz fan growing up while also highlighting the strong chemistry between the two members of The Righteous.
“When you see them together, there’s such a special synergy between the two. They really buy into what they’re selling. You know what I mean? They commit to the bit, and that’s the most important thing — to be authentic and feel real in the moment.
“I honestly think their goal is to try and pull out Broken Matt and Brother Nero. Once Broken Matt and Brother Nero emerge and you end up on the Hardy Compound, I think you could possibly have the greatest cinematic match of all time, especially being on AMC. We’re even going to get some Walking Dead zombies going through the woods. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The Righteous first teased the idea of a cinematic match with The Hardys
During their exclusive interview with WrestleZone, The Righteous teased “something bigger” for their storyline with The Hardys.
“We actually want The Righteous and The Hardys to become something bigger,” Vincent said. “I think Jeff even mentioned maybe a faction, calling it ‘Freaky Team Xtreme.’ It’ll be interesting to see how things develop from this point onward, especially after No Surrender.”
Vincent also pointed out the cinematic connection between AMC’s iconic FearFest marathon and a match type that The Hardys are known to set the bar for.
“It’s interesting — how cool would it be to feature almost every version of The Hardys? And we’re on AMC, so being part of the first-ever cinematic match on a network like that would be fantastic, especially with all the different shows they do, like FearFest. It all fits so well with AMC.
“Who knows? Maybe that could happen in the future. Maybe The Hardys and The Righteous become a faction. Like you said, Bill, it’s very layered, which is the coolest part to me. It gives us so many options, and right now, nobody knows where it’s going to go.”
WrestleZone has coverage of TNA iMPACT on Thursdays.
