Roman Reigns continues to target CM Punk’s “advanced age.” This time, he took a shot at Punk on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Reigns appeared on Thursday night’s show, where he cut a brief promo on CM Punk ahead of their clash at WWE WrestleMania 42. Reigns once again mocked Punk for being old, and this time, said Punk wasn’t on the show because he’s not a big star like him.
“Phil, most likely you’re asleep right now, as you should be. You should be resting up because you need it. You’re probably a little confused at your old age. You’re probably wondering, ‘Why is Roman there, and I’m here at home?’ That’s because I’m a way bigger star than you.”
For what it’s worth, CM Punk has been on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon before. Punk appeared on the show in 2011, when he was WWE Champion.
Roman Reigns has made CM Punk’s age a regular talking point on WWE TV
Roman Reigns has been mocking CM Punk for being old for a few weeks. The first promo that Reigns mocked Punk’s age was originally supposed to have a darker tone, but Reigns has leaned into calling Punk old since then. Despite being insulted, CM Punk says he’s proud of being old and considers it a compliment.
This week’s episode of WWE RAW on Netflix saw Punk drag Roman Reigns’s in-ring look. Punk used an NSFW reference to describe Reigns’ oiled-up look on television.
“At WrestleMania, 20 minutes deep when you’re gasping for air and all that oil and j*zz you cover yourself in dries up, just like your chances of ever being Heavyweight Champion, are gone,” Punk said. “And I hit you and jack you with a GTS, and you go to sleep and you wake up Monday morning and you realize that I am the best in the world,” Punk continued. “Man, you just got beat by an old man. But not ‘a’ old man, you got beat by the old man!”
This was (not surprisingly) the first time that “j*zz” was used as an insult in a WWE promo. It also coincidentally brought up memories of a gross scene from CM Punk’s horror movie, Girl on the Third Floor.
