The main event of TNA Sacrifice on March 27, 2026, didn’t go as planned. The TNA World Championship match between Mike Santana and Steve Maclin had to be stopped early because of a real injury.
Fans were looking forward to a grand match. The rivalry had been building for weeks, so expectations were high. But things changed shortly after the match started.
An injury to Steve Maclin forces stoppage of TNA World Title match
The match started, and both wrestlers traded strong hits. Then, as Maclin ran the ropes, Santana hit a clean superkick. Maclin dropped immediately and looked out of it. His left hand also looked stiff, which can be a serious sign of a head injury or a concussion at least.
Referee Alice Lane reacted right away. She stopped the match and threw up the “X” sign, which in wrestling means a real injury. Medical staff rushed to check on Maclin while the crowd got confused.
Maclin was later helped up, but the match was officially called off. Doctors continued checking on him as he was taken backstage, ending the main event much earlier than expected.
To finish the show, TNA had to change its plans. Eddie Edwards ran in and started fighting Santana. Santana then hit his Spin the Block lariat and later put Edwards through a table with a frog splash. It managed to give a dramatic ending despite the situation.
A report from PWInsider suggests that Maclin may have suffered a concussion, though nothing is confirmed yet. The good news is that he was said to be conscious backstage later. Credit goes to the referee and officials for acting fast and putting safety first.
Right now, there is no update on when Maclin will return. We hope for his speedy recovery.
