Road Dogg Says He ‘Fought’ To Get WWE Star on TV

With the WWE main roster full of new talents, getting regular TV time is tough. But according to Road Dogg, one rising star got a big push from him behind the scenes, and that is none other than Kit Wilson.

Wilson has emerged as a regular face on WWE TV, especially after his team partner, Prince, had neck fusion surgery in 2025, which paused their tag team run. Wilson moved into singles competition and created a character focused on “eliminating toxic masculinity.”

Recently, the SmackDown star has engaged in a feud with Jelly Roll. He has also been involved in a fun storyline with Danhausen, whose “curse” made him lose against the Grammy Award-winning singer. This storyline has also connected him with stars like The Miz, who is mentoring him.

Road Dogg says he had to push to get Kit Wilson featured on WWE TV

Speaking during a virtual signing with Signed By Superstars, Road Dogg openly praised Wilson. He even revealed that he personally pushed to get him on TV, even when it was difficult.

According to Fightful’s transcription, Road Dogg said, “Ah! Love him. Love him. I will gladly say that I fought to get him on and we had to under — dark of night — we had to get him on Main Event a few times, so that we could show everybody that it was fun and catchy… His partner (Elton Prince) was a young Billy Gunn.”

Since then, Kit Wilson has built his own identity on WWE SmackDown. Meanwhile, Road Dogg stepped away from WWE in March 2026 after working in several big backstage roles. He had been a co-lead writer for SmackDown, Senior Vice President of Live Events, and even a commentator.

Road Dogg is best known from the Attitude Era, where he teamed with Billy Gunn as part of the New Age Outlaws and D-Generation X. Over the years, he became an important figure behind the scenes.

His support for Wilson shows how important backstage backing can be.
